I have an eclectic career background, holding a Master of Social Work degree from Boston University and an undergraduate degree in Interior Design. This diverse experience allows me to bring a wide range of skills and perspectives to my practice.
Before transitioning to full-time private practice, I worked as a town social worker in Lexington, MA, supporting individuals across the lifespan. With over 20 years of experience, I have worked with neurologically diverse individuals, provided emergency psychiatric services in hospitals and worked in community-based mental health and school settings. I work with clients ranging in age from 16 to older adults in their eighties and nineties, always striving to create a culturally sensitive space where people can share their struggles, find hope, and achieve their goals.
The greatest joy of my work as a therapist is guiding individuals toward peace and helping them achieve their goals.
My specializations are the following:
Originally from Zimbabwe, I have a unique understanding of the challenges immigrant families face, particularly the dynamics between immigrant parents and American-born children. While I work with a diverse range of clients, I am particularly passionate about supporting immigrants, marginalized groups, and BIPOC communities.
My practice includes supporting clients dealing with anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions, feelings of being 'stuck,' and a desire for a higher quality of life. I also help individuals manage social phobias, parental stress, work-related stress, and overall stress management.
I work with clients from any or no spiritual or religious background. For those seeking Christian counseling, I incorporate Biblical values and emphasize the importance of God and faith in our work together. I believe that integrating these elements can provide a deeper sense of healing and guidance.
Fun Fact About Me
I’m a big believer in the power of hobbies to provide a healthy distraction and a creative outlet beyond life’s challenges. A few years ago, I discovered candle-making and fell in love with the process. What started as a relaxing hobby has grown into a small business where I now create and sell candles and other unique products.
